Oklahoma Historial Society plans banquet

The Oklahoma Historical Society (OHS) will host its annual Awards Banquet on Thurs., Feb. 24, at 6:00 p.m. at the Oklahoma History Center in Oklahoma City, according to a news release.
Oklahoma City Mayor David Holt will be the guest speaker, and Tulsa County Commissioner Karen Keith will emcee.
 At this annual ceremony, the OHS will make presentations to OHS annual award recipients, State Historic Preservation Office annual award recipients, Guardians of History honorees and will induct four individuals into the Oklahoma Historians Hall of Fame.
 Longtime OHS Executive Director Bob Blackburn will be inducted along with noted historians Davis Joyce and Theda Perdue, as well as Oklahoma history advocate Justice Yvonne Kauger. 
A cocktail reception will begin at 6:00 p.m., and dinner and the awards program will follow at 6:30 p.m. 
Proceeds from this event will be matched by the Kirkpatrick Family Fund and will go toward the Dr. Bob Blackburn Collections Endowment Fund. This endowment provides the OHS with funds to collect and preserve archival collections and artifacts that tell the story of Oklahoma.

The mission of the Oklahoma Historical Society is to collect, preserve, and share the history and culture of the state of Oklahoma and its people. Pauls Valley Opry rescheduled for Febrary

The Pauls Valley Opry performance originally set for Sat., Feb. 5, has been rescheduled for this Saturday, Feb. 12 due to the recent bad weather, according to Becky Hill.
The concert will be held in the Pauls Valley High School Auditorium, Ms. Hill explained.
The evening kicks off at 6:30 p.m., featuring the Memory Makers Band, with special guests Anne Young, Gunner Shi Donham, April Davis, Randall Armstrong, Jae L. Stillwell, Michael Webb, and Zack Mitchell. The MC is John Williams. 
Admission is charged, but children ages 12 and under are admitted FREE of charge.

What better way to spend Valentine's Day than helping to make Prom Night safe for our youngsters, and then cheering the Leopardettes and Leopards on to basketball victory?
The Lindsay High School After Prom committee is hosting a dinner to raise funds to help keep young people safe on prom night, according to a news release. 
 The all-you-can-eat dinner, which consist of homemade stew and chili, is set for Mon., Feb. 14 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., prior to the Leopardettes and Leopards games against Pauls Valley.
The meal will be served in the school cafeteria. The cafeteria is located inside the Elementary School, located at the corner of S.W. 8th and Creek Streets.
