The Maysville Warriors 8U Baseball Team is excited to announce that it will be hosting an invitational tournament at the Maysville ball fields on Sat., May 21 and Sun., May 22, according to Tyler Dean.
Teams from across the Washita Canadian Valley League have been invited to the tournament. Play will include teams from Chickasha, Dibble, Lexington, Lindsay, Purcell, Wayne, and Maysville.
The weekend will feature a three-game guarantee for all teams, rings for champion and runner-up teams, certified umpires, exciting play on the field, great food, family and fun in the grove!
Numerous businesses and families have shown tremendous support for the event, and players will all go home with some customized tournament swag! The entire Maysville community is invited to come out and support this exciting event!
The Maysville Warrior 8U Team is off to a solid start this year with a 7-2 record. The team’s remaining home games include a double header starting at 6:15 p.m. on Mon., May 23 and single games on Thurs., May 26 and Tues., June 7, both starting and 7:15 pm.
Team members include Case Baker, Daelyn Close, Talan Dean, Tucker Foraker, Jhett Hailey, Hank Hobson, Lucas McGowen, Jayden McKee, Landon Salazar, and Brydon Sebastian. The Warriors are coached by Head Coach Tyler Dean and assistants Jake Baker, Chris Close, Keith Foraker, Keith Hailey and Brad Hobson.

Sat., May 21, the Purdy Cemetery will have an “Old Fashion” Work Day beginning around 8:30 a.m. to noon, according to LaVern Russell, President of the Purdy Cemetery Association.
Volunteers are asked to bring equipment to sweep tombstones, pick up sticks, trash, and leaves, fill graves if needed, and bait ants, (ant bait & trash bags furnished).
Families can weed eat around their family tombstones. The regular mowing personnel for the cemetery will do the mowing.
Sat., May 28 thru Mon., May 30, members of the Purdy Cemetery Association will be taking donations to support the cemetery’s upkeep. Volunteers will sit daily at the Cemetery to receive donations.
On Memorial Day, Mon. May 30, at 11:00 a.m., the Purdy Cemetery Association will have their “Annual Memorial Day Service”.
The Memorial Day ceremonies will begin with the American Legion Post #23 presenting the 21-Gun Salute and Taps, followed by a Bible Message by Pastor Nick Johnson, and the Billingsley Family with Message in songs.
A “Pot Luck” lunch will follow the Service with good food and fellowship.
“Everyone is welcome to attend our Memorial Day Service at the Purdy Cemetery, just bring your lawn chair, favorite potluck food and join us for a great commemoration of our loved ones gone on before us,” Ms. Russell concluded.

“Please join us THIS SUNDAY from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. as we celebrate Jonetta Hinkle and her distinguished career as a piano teacher (62 uninterrupted years and counting).” That’s the word from Jennifer Dutton, one of the organizers of Jonetta’s Jubilee.
The come-and-go party will be at the REC Multi-Purpose Building, located at 801 N. Industrial Blvd., Hwy. 76, in Lindsay..
At 3:00 p.m. Mrs. Hinkle will grace those present with a piano performance, and there will be a special presentation.
Jonetta would love to hear former and current students play piano in the background during the party if they wish.
“Mrs. Hinkle has been a devoted teacher, mentor and friend to countless students over the decades. No ‘thank you’ could ever be enough, but we hope that you will come help us try to thank Jonetta for her years of unwavering commitment to the people of Lindsay and the surrounding areas,” Ms. Dutton explained.
