VBS set at Erin Springs Baptist Church

Grab your armor and your trusty steed and get ready for a medieval time at Keepers of the Kingdom Vacation Bible School at Erin Springs Baptist Church.
Vacation Bible School will be held Mon.-Fri., May 22-26 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. each evening according to Tracy Evans.
Kids at this VBS learn how they can be part of God’s kingdom through salvation in his Son and will be equipped with the armor of God to become Keepers of Kingdom!
Ms. Evans explained that there will be a meal each evening, as well as crafts and games. The week will conclude with a night for the entire family which includes a meal and lots of family fun on Fri., May. 26.
Erin Springs Baptist Church is located at 13053 Hwy. 76, Lindsay.

First Baptist Church to hold VBS activities

First Baptist Church in Lindsay is set to have Vacation Bible School Sun.-Wed., May 21-24, according to Cindy Flood.
The week will start Sun., May 21 with registration and a worship rally from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. The fun filled evening will feature games, inflatables and pizza.
Bible school classes will be held from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon Mon.-Wed., May 21-24.
The evening of Wed., May 24 a family night will kick off at 6:00. The evening will include dinner and a worship rally.
First Baptist Church is located at 401 S.W. Third St. Those needing more information may call the church at 405-756-2266.

Memorial Day service set Purdy cemetery

Sat., May 27th through Mon., May 29th members of the Purdy Cemetery Association will be taking donations to support the cemeteries’ upkeep, according to LaVern Russell.
Volunteers will sit daily at the Cemetery gate to receive donations.
On Memorial Day Mon., May 29th at 11:00 a.m. the Purdy Cemetery Association will have their annual Memorial Day service.
The Memorial Day ceremonies will begin with the American Legion Post #23 presenting the 21 Gun Salute & Taps.
The service will include a presentation by Ronnie Ackerman, Bible message by Nathanial Roberts, and message in song Billingsley family.
A pot luck lunch will follow the service with good food and fellowship.
Everyone is welcome to attend the Memorial Day Service at the Purdy Cemetery, just bring a lawn chair, favorite potluck food and enjoy a great commemoration of our loved ones gone on before us, Ms. Russell explained.

Storytelling May 21 at Pikes Peak Museum

Another Storytelling of the Lindsay community is set for Sun., May 21, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. in the Pikes Peak School Museum in Erin Springs.
The story of Leonard and Willie Franklin will be told by their daughter Leta Kay Adkisson.
Many may remember the local businesses of this family: Leonard’s APCO located on 201 W. Cherokee and Hair Dressers’ Haven located on the corner of Main and East Creek.
Storytelling is hosted by the Lindsay Community Historical Society.

Lindsay Open Rodeo set for this weekend

The Lindsay open rodeo is set for Fri.-Sat., May 19-20 at 8:00 p.m. each evening, according to an announcement.
The rodeo will feature bull riding, ranch bronc riding, bareback bronc riding, tie down calf roping, breakaway roping, team roping, open barrel racing junior, open barrel racing senior, and calf scramble.
The always popular mutton bustin’ for six year olds and under starts at 7:30, signups for mutton bustin’ start at 6:30.
