Thanksgiving Day in Lindsay!

The annual FREE Community Thanksgiving Dinner in Lindsay is set for Thanksgiving Day, Thurs., Nov. 24, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., according to John Collins.
The dinner will be held at Calvary Baptist Church, located at 410 W. Chickasaw in Lindsay.
Meals can be delivered in Lindsay and close to Lindsay only. To-go meals are also available, and may be called in ahead of time.
“Donations are still needed, and are greatly appreciated. Usually 500 or more people are being fed at this event; some years many more,” Mr. Collins went on to say.
“Volunteers are still needed to help on Wednesday afternoon in prepping the food, along with volunteers for tomorrow, Thanksgiving Day,” Mr Collins continued.
This annual tradition began in 1982, when the John and Thelma Howell family began serving a community Thanksgiving dinner for anyone who wanted to attend. Through the years, attendance grew, and the Howells added more family members to help feed the large crowds.
Thanksgiving of 2014 marked the last time the Howell, Robertson and Springman families held the dinner. Since then, others in the community have organized the annual dinner.
“Everyone is welcome! If you don’t have family to enjoy the day with, please come enjoy a meal with us. If you’re in the Lindsay area and need a meal or meals delivered, please call us at the church Wednesday afternoon or Thanksgiving morning, Thurs., Nov. 25,” Mr. Collins added.
Those who have further questions may contact Mr. Collins. On Thanksgiving Day, calls will be accepted at the church by dialing 405-756-2781, or by contacting Mr. Collins at 405-756-7217.
