The Wiley Post festival is set for this Sat., Sept. 17, starting at 10:00 a.m., according to Janet Dinwiddie, Librarian at the Maysville Public Library.
This year’s festival features a car show, as well as craft vendors, food vendors, music and fun all day.
The Maysville Public Library sponsors the fun event named for Maysville’s most famous son, Wiley Post.
Festivities begin with a welcome at 10:00 a.m., and the parade will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Williams Street in downtown Maysville.
The cheerleaders and band will perform during the day. There will be music by Mary Alice Koehn.
“We have food and craft vendors, but there’s always room for more, and there’s still time to reserve your spot. Come join the fun!” Ms. Dinwiddie added.
Wiley Post was the first pilot to fly solo around the world, discovered the jet stream, wore the world’s first pressure suit, and was the pilot for famed humorist and fellow Oklahoman, Will Rogers.
Those who have questions, or who would like to rent vendor/booth space, may contact Ms. Dinwiddie at 405-867-4748.
