Eric Dodson

My name is Eric Dodson. I am the son of Delbert and Debbie Bell of Lindsay and Steve and Deb Dodson of Hiawatha, Iowa. My grandparents were Comanche and Wanda McGuire and great-grandparents were Pete and Irene Holmes. My roots run deep for generations in our

community. I graduated from Lindsay High School in 1994. I met my wife, Heather, at paralegal school and have been married to her over 15 years. We have six children: Dylan, Christopher, Parker,

Maverick, Abriel and Ryker. We also have one granddaughter, Hazel! We are more than vested into Lindsay. It is our life. I worked with the city of Lindsay from 2003 to 2011 and was the Chief of Police for the majority of that time. I worked closely with the city manager and other city officials during my time with the city. I currently work for Homer Rinehart Co. and thoroughly enjoy my job. I enjoy coaching, fishing, and any other activity that involves

family and friends. I am a member of the First Baptist Church of Lindsay.

I am running for a position on the City Council to help implement LEADERSHIP, INTEGRITY,

TRANSPARANCY, and the PROMISE to be a TRUE voice for the community that WILL be heard. Like many family members before me, I was born to lead. Help me lead our city with your vote in the upcoming City Council Election on April 7, 2020. Please feel free to contact me anytime with questions or concerns whether I’m elected or not at 405-756-4455 or at 1008 W. Choctaw St. in Lindsay. Thank you and GOD Bless!

Brad Smith

My name is Brad Smith, I am the son of Ronnie and Jan Smith of Noble, OK. I have been a resident of Lindsay since 2000. My wife Krista of eighteen years was born and raised in Lindsay. We have four children: Mackenzie, Riley, Macey and Kloey. My oldest daughter, Mackenzie is a Lindsay High School graduate of the class of 2017. Riley, Macey and Kloey currently attend Lindsay Public Schools.

Most of my interaction with residents in Lindsay was through my former job as a UPS driver of 16 years. I worked in and around Lindsay in the oilfield for eight years. I currently work for Baker Hughes in OKC. I enjoy spending time with my family, fishing, OU football and watching my children in school activities. I am a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

I am running for a position on the City Council to bring leadership and unity. I will have a hardworking attitude behind every decision that needs to be made and willingness to listen and work with fellow council members. I would appreciate your vote in the upcoming council election April 7, 2020. Please feel free to contact me with any questions and concerns at 405-756-7711. Thank you and God bless.

Randy Hugo

My name is Randy Hugo. I am running for a position on the Lindsay City Council.

A few things about me are: I’m a Military veteran.

  • My wife, Kay, and I have lived in Lindsay since 1987 and estrablished our home here.

  • I’m an honest man who spent my career as a nurse working at Norman’s Veteran Center, then retired from

Lindsay Municipal Hospital.

  • I attend church at Erin Springs Baptist Church.

I love Lindsay and will do my best to serve the community with God’s guidance.

Debbie Whitehead

My name is Debbie Whitehead and I am a candidate for the Lindsay City Council. I am a resident of Lindsay and have been my entire life. My parents were Hardy and Mary Morehead. They owned Hardy’s Cleaners and Mary’s Garden Center when I was young. They raised their 9 children in Lindsay. I have been involved in Lindsay and have supported this town with enthusiasm. I have 2 step-sons and 1 daughter. I also have 9 grandchildren, 4 of them living in Lindsay.

I am now the property manager at Lindsay Place Apartments. I have kept the vacancies to a minimum since I became the manager. I have a good relationship with the residents and they know I care about them. I am an advocate for the elderly and low income housing through my membership with Leading Age.

I have been a member of the Lindsay City Council in the past, serving as mayor and vice-mayor part of the time. I have the desire to see this town be the best it can be. I know there are limitations as to what can be done in this town, but if we could just work together, I think we can achieve growth and new job opportunities. Some of my goals were achieved when I was City Council member in the past. I have other ideas that were not seen through. One idea is a walking path/bike path from the west side of town into and through town. We have people riding bikes and motorized scooters on the highway. I would like to see a safe path for them to ride. Another idea (plan was submitted by me) was for a recreational facility for everyone, but targeting the low income. This facility would encompass training for low income people to learn how to budget their money, learn some life skills and possibly job skills, learn about healthy ways of life and fitness, and provide tutoring for children as well as fitness training for them.

A major issue in this town is the infrastructure. Water lines are being replaced, but there are still many lines that need to be replaced. Drainage in this town is something that needs to be adressed more fervently. There are several streets that need repair. We worked on some infrastructure issues while I was in office, but this is an ongoing issue and needs more work. Main Street has been an issue that needs attention also. Revitalization as well as the upkeep of buildings, sidewalks, and the brick street are things that I will work on also. I will work hard on these issues as well as the numerous other issues going on in the community. I would appreciate your vote on April 7, 2020.

Deadline to change party affiliation is Tues., Mar. 31

Oklahomans who want to change their party affiliation before the Primary or Runoff Primary Elections later this year must do so no later than Tues., Mar. 31, according to County Election Board Secretaries.

Changes of political affiliation are prohibited by law during the period beginning April 1 and continuing through August 31 in even-numbered years, Haley said.

Each political party can nominate one candidate per office for the November General Election. If two or more candidates from the same party file for one office, the party nominee is selected at either the Primary or Runoff Primary Election.

Only voters registered in a political party can vote to select that party’s nominees unless the party gives Independent voters permission to vote in its primaries. The Democratic and Libertarian Parties have given Independent voters permission to vote in their primaries and runoff primaries in 2020 and 2021. Oklahoma has three recognized political parties in 2020: Democratic, Republican and Libertarian.

All registered voters, regardless of political affiliation, can vote for any candidate at the November General Election and for state or local questions at any election.

Applications to register to vote or to change political affiliation are available at the County Election Board offices, post offices, public libraries, tag agencies, state offices providing public assistance, and at most political party and candidate campaign offices.

Questions may be directed to the Election Board Secretaries. The board secretaries and phone numbers in the Shopper’s distribution area are:  Garvin County, Doylene Cunningham, 405-238-3303; McClain County, Karen Haley, 405-527-3121; Grady County, Susan Turner, 405-224-1430.

The Garvin County Election Board is located inside the Garvin County Courthouse in Pauls Valley, First Floor, Room 8.

The McClain County Election Board office is in Room 101, at 121 N. 2nd Ave. in Purcell (inside the McClain County Courthouse).

The Grady County Election Board office is located in the District Attorney Complex at 307 W. Pennsylvania Ave. in Chickasha.
