All American blood drive set for Thursday

All American blood drive is set for Thurs., July 13, according to Tammy Aprill.
The Lindsay Community Blood Drive will be held at the United Methodist Church from 11:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. The church is located at 114 W. Chickasaw in Lindsay.
The blood drive is put on by the Oklahoma Blood Institute and South Central Medical and Resource Center.
All donors receive their choice of a FREE T-shirt, an Academy folding chair and their choice of summer fun tickets (while supplies last).
Donors are reminded to take a photo ID with them to the drive. Those seeking more information may contact Ms. Aprill at 405-756-1414.

Singing set at God’s Big Country Church

God’s Big Country Church is set to hold their July Singing this week, Sat., July 15, according to Pastor Jerry Auld.
The singing begins at 7:00 p.m. at the church, located at 2215 County Road 1350 in Blanchard.
“Come out and worship with us in song! Bring your songs, bring your instruments, and join us,” Pastor Auld added.
The church holds their Sunday morning services at 10:30 a.m.

Art in the Yard set for this weekend

The Lindsay Community Historical Society is hosting the annual Art in the Yard Sat., July 15 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., according to Thelma Love.
Children, Youth, and Adults can enjoy creative art activities under the shade trees at the Murray Lindsay Mansion.
A new feature is Art in the House for youth and adults learning basic techniques of different types of art.
Local artist will present painting roses on glass, toothbrush braided rugs, and bead work.
Young children need to be accompanied by an adult. There is no charge for art materials but donations accepted.

Tours of the Mansion will be offered for individuals or small groups as requested.

Food Bank distribution set for Sat., June 24

Lindsay Community Food Bank distribution is set for Sat., June 24 from 10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m., according to Lisa Jackson, program coordinator.
The Food Bank is located at Calavary Baptist Church, 410 W. Chickasaw in Lindsay.
Those needing to sign up to receive food from the Food Bank are asked to fill out an application available at the church Mon. – Thur. between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
Monetary donations and volunteers who help pack boxes are appreciated. Those interested in helping are asked to contact the church at 405-756-2781.

Volunteers needed to continue helping

Due to increasing community needs and lack of dedicated, consistent volunteers Restored Hearts and Soles Foundation is facing possible dissolution this upcoming school year (2023-24), according to an announcement.
Anyone interested in keeping this organization that has assisted so many youth in Garvin & Murray counties, may reach out to them via Facebook Messenger or email at restoredheartsandsoles@gmail.com to see how you can serve.
The organization served 319 students with new shoes and a week’s worth of socks for the 2022-23 school year. They served 71 girls with a Prom Dress during the 2023 Prom Closet.
