Superfly event set for next weekend

Superfly 2023 will be a Lindsay Airport once again, according Clay Ricks.
The event is free for all pilots and spectators.
Dates for the event are Thur., Sept. 28-Sun., Oct. 1. Mr. Ricks explained that the best time for spectators to attend will be Friday and Saturday both in the afternoon and the evening.
A huge circus tent to hangout under and store planes at night will be availabe on a first come first serve basis.
Food trucks will be on site Friday and Saturday.
Camping is allowed but no power or hookups are available. There is water on site for campers.
3000’ of runway is available so there will be plenty of room for all aircraft types. Early arrivals will be allowed Wednesday at noon.

Elks scholarship application now available

The Elks National Foundation (ENF) has kicked off the the 2024 scholarship year, according to Lee Martin.
The 2024 Most Valuable Student is now open. Applications can be found online at enf.elks.org/MVS. The application deadline is Mon., Nov. 13.
The ENF awards 500 four-year scholarships based on academics, leadership, and financial need. National awards rage from $1,000 per year to $7,500 per year. The national awards will be announced in April 2024.
MVS scholarships are for students pursing a four-year degree on a full-time basis (minimum of 12 semester hours), at a U.S. college or university next school year. Some important applicant details include:
• Current high school senior (or equivalent) who are citizens of the United States are eligible to apply.
• Applicants do not have to be related to a member of the Elks.
• Male and female students compete separately.
Applicants select from a list of the Lodges closest to their home address. Students from the Lindsay area should choose Lindsay Elks Lodge #2351 as their sponsoring Lodge.
The Legacy awards program provide $4,000 scholarships for children and grandchildren of dues-paying Elk members. The ENF offers a total of 350 national awards. The application deadline is Feb. 24, 2024. More details can be found on the application link enf.elks.org/Leg.

Bingo with the Legion set for August 19

It’s time again for Bingo with the Legion!
American Legion Ball Smith Post 23, Auxiliary and Sons of the Legion are hosting a bingo night Tue., Sept. 19, according to a member.
Bingo will be played from 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. at 301 W. Choctaw.
“We hope to see everyone there,” the member added.
