Family history has always impacted the community and helps us remember the values people share. England Family History will be told by Jim and Barbara England on Sun., Aug. 13 at 2:00 p.m. in the Pikes Peak Museum, according to Thelma Love.
This Rural School building is located in Erin Springs, 2 miles south of Lindsay, across from the Murray Lindsay Mansion.
This school building was formerly located SW of Lindsay in a rural community known as Pikes Peak. It is one of the remaining rural school buildings operated as a museum to help people remember the value of community life in the early 1900’s.
The Lindsay Community Historical Society offers tours and may be scheduled by calling 405-919-6146 or 405-756-6502.
A school event of a rural school day may also be planned. The museum sets on a large play area that may be used for community events or family gatherings.
Donations are appreciated to continue to maintain this over 100 year old building. The generous donations of many have allowed LCHS to have the outside of the building repaired and resurfaced. Future projects are being planned and completed as financing is available.
The Pikes Peak History Book 1908-2008 may be purchased along with T-shirts from the Lindsay Community Historical Society.
Many of the family stories of the Pikes Peak Community are now represented by many Lindsay residents who are off-springs of these families.
